You can request your credit report by mail or online. Visit www.annualcreditreport.com. Here you can either view the report online or download a request form to have your report mailed.
There are three credit report agencies: Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. Each provides a free annual credit report upon request. At Windward, we recommend regularly monitoring your credit report for unusual activity by reviewing a credit report from a different agency every four months. You won’t find your credit score, (you typically pay for the score), but rather a report of your credit history, current credit, and who has viewed your credit report.
You can also obtain a free credit report if:
- A company denied you credit, insurance, or employment (you must request the report within 60 days of denial)
- You are unemployed and will be looking for a job in the next 60 days
- You are receiving benefits from welfare
- Your credit report is inaccurate because of fraud or identity theft
If you find credit report errors, www.annualcreditreport.com has information about fixing your credit report, how to review, and more information about identity protection.
